May 27th in Relief Society, we talked about President Nelson’s April General Conference talk: Revelation for the Church, Revelation for Our Lives.

We know that He wants us to grow and He wants us to be strengthened for a larger purpose, which is eternal life.
President Nelson said, “Whatever our Church calling, we can
pray to our Heavenly Father and receive guidance and direction, be warned about
dangers and distractions, and be enabled to accomplish things we simply could
not do on our own. If we will truly receive the Holy Ghost and learn to discern
and understand His promptings, we will be guided in matters large and small.”
We should talk to Heavenly Father when we’re upset, even if we’re
angry at Him. He already knows our hearts and minds, so we can’t surprise or
shock him.
Prayer is a wonderful healing gift for our lives.
We shouldn't allow negative emotions to sever our lines of communication with Heavenly Father.
President Nelson said, “I am optimistic about the future. It
will be filled with opportunities for each of us to progress, contribute, and
take the gospel to every corner of the earth. But I am also not naive about the
days ahead. We live in a world that is complex and increasingly contentious.
The constant availability of social media and a 24-hour news cycle bombard us
with relentless messages. If we are to have any hope of sifting through the
myriad of voices and the philosophies of men that attack truth, we must learn
to receive revelation.”
“Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of
His mightiest works between now and when He comes again. We will see miraculous
indications that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this
Church in majesty and glory. But in coming days, it will not be possible to
survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant
influence of the Holy Ghost.”
Question for Discussion:
When you have a question or problem, what do you do to make it easier for you to receive
inspiration from the Lord?
Sometimes I need something definitive to ponder, or my mind will wander...
ReplyDeleteSo, I try to be scientific, and give myself a question, a hypothesis, the experiment, and the outcome. Then I ponder that, and if my heart is in thw right place, i can sometimes, if the Lord is willing, get inspiration, answers. Sometimes i still have to wait for the answer, but i receive some more specific questions, and i have a clearer picture of what I don't want.
I love this!!!! Sarah what a beautiful job!!! I agree, I feel like the Lord is coaching us now with ministering and the new format of lessons to begin seeking out(if we haven't already) and obtaining revelation for our lives. The Lord is at the helm and He is guiding us to Safety, but are we listening? I keep going back to the importance of taking a few minutes in the early morning to just pray and listen, then act...I think that will be my goal this week :)
