R.S. Lesson: Jan 14, 2018

Sister Nickerson lesson was on Bonnie L. Oscarson's October General Conference talk: The Needs Before Us.

There are a lot of great quotes in this talk, and I highly recommend reading it.

Sister Oscarson talked about how we go to church to participate in ordinances, learn, and be inspired, but that it's also a very important opportunity to "...watch out for each other, encourage one another, and find ways to serve and strengthen each other."

"Ask your Heavenly Father to show you those around you who need your help and to inspire you on how best to serve them. Remember that the Savior most often ministered to one person at a time."

Heavenly Father and Jesus need our hands, hearts, and love to serve others for them.
Some great points raised in class:

It doesn't have to be perfect or grandiose to be service. You don't have to be an amazing cook to bring someone dinner. The point is that you're helping. You've given them one less thing to worry about.
We need to be able to accept help, too. Sometimes it's hard to ask for help, but there's someone right next to you who wants to help you. Be grateful when someone offers you service.
Question for Discussion:
Sometimes a simple act of kindness can have a large impact. Have you experienced something like this, either as the giver or receiver? Please share!
